How do you expect Serve Denton will benefit NCTC?

We are both in the business of changing people’s lives through access, equity, dignity, education. Our organizations both strive to build personal resilience and self-confidence and lay a foundation that will allow individuals to support themselves and their families long-term. Our relationship is mutually beneficial and essential to creating an even stronger network of support for the communities we serve.

How did you hear about Serve Denton?

Being a community college our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds and have a multitude of needs, so it’s imperative we know about the services and resources in our immediate service area. Several of our advisors and counselors became familiar with Serve Denton as a referral source, and we even have representation from NCTC on the Serve Denton Advisory Board! We have held many staff and departmental meetings in the Serve Denton space and done group tours to show our NCTC employees what an amazing facility you have, and how Serve Denton is a space for unparalleled compassion and humanity.

What are you most excited about when it comes to partnering with Serve Denton?

So many things! Having our counselors working right alongside the other non-profits, so we can make immediate connections with the many clients being served and demystify the process of pursuing an education with NCTC. When life has been a series of trials and survival, it’s hard to see all the options-or to know that you absolutely have a right to want your life to look different than it does now. Education and career training is a right, not a privilege. You belong at NCTC, in whatever way we can serve you best and make a positive impact on your life, and NCTC belongs with Serve Denton!
