Serve Denton’s Capital Campaign Nears the Finish Line

Denton County is one of the fastest-growing counties in the United States with 26,000 people moving here each year. It’s only natural that with that much growth, the needs of the most vulnerable populations grow with it.

Hundreds of families are struggling to find the resources they need to get back on their feet and don’t know where to turn for help.

But finding help in your most desperate hour shouldn’t be hard …

Serve Denton believes finding help should be easy–and by partnering with local nonprofits in one convenient location, they turn that belief into a reality.

Serve Denton is the largest nonprofit center in Denton County and one of the largest nonprofit centers in Texas. Made possible by the investments and resources rooted in trust from the people in and out of our community, thousands of struggling families are being served annually.

Operating as a one-stop-shop of nonprofits, families can receive the wrap-around services they need in one convenient location. Driving all around town for a multitude of services is now a thing of the past … all because of the Serve Denton Center.

In just one building, caring professionals are brought together under one roof to provide a multitude of services resulting in more people being helped and becoming self-sufficient.

It’s the building that makes Serve Denton possible. But it’s the people who make the building a reality.

That is why Serve Denton is calling for hometown heroes to help push them over the finish line in their Capital Campaign.

What is the Capital Campaign?

The Capital Campaign is designed to raise a significant amount of money for the construction of various phases in Serve Denton’s expansion project–ensuring that money will not hinder funds for normal operational expenses.

This allows more nonprofits to be located in the Serve Denton Center, making it easier for those in need to receive the needed services.

Out of this $10.1 million project, Serve Denton has raised $6.6 million so far from grants and New Market Tax Credits (of which only two were given in Texas). Through this low-interest/pre-paid interest loan from US Bank through the NMTC program, the principle is forgiven after 7 years, and in exchange, US Bank receives a tax credit. It is this grant that has funded the majority of the construction for the Serve Denton Center, but not all of it.

Some of Serve Denton’s very own partner agencies have invested hundreds of thousands of their own dollars in support of this Capital Campaign.

Yes, you heard that correctly …

Local nonprofits believe in this campaign so much, and trust the integrity and efficiency of Serve Denton, that they are willing to invest their resources and lifeblood into creating something even stronger. There is no doubt that the most is being made out of every penny.

These generous investments have made a huge dent in Serve Denton’s Capital Campaign, and they are on the homestretch for raising the remaining $1.2 million.

But they won’t be able to do it without ...

Hometown heroes like you

40 years ago the idea of Serve Denton was born out of a vision for a community of helpers to wholly support its community under one roof.

3 years ago that dream was made a reality as the ground was broken and construction commenced for the Serve Denton Center.

Presently, they are just right around the corner from being a fully self-sufficient nonprofit hub.

Over the years, donors and hometown heroes have helped build a legacy to create a place most communities only dream of having … the Serve Denton Center. A place where a community can be a family, act as a family and support its family.

Now is your chance to join in that legacy.

The Serve Denton Center is a building. But it isn’t just a building.

To the partners, the building represents freedom, collaboration, and maximizing assets–the ability to use more funds to actually serve clients.

To the families, the building represents a refuge of hope, solutions, and help–a bridge to their future.

But ultimately, the building represents a home for our community, our family.

What if your gift to Serve Denton could help generations to come?

Supporting Serve Denton through the Capital Campaign isn’t just about building a building. It’s about building a legacy.

In the words of Anthony Liccione, “Everybody needs a house to live in, but a supportive family is what builds a home.”

The reality is that it is the building that makes Serve Denton the success that it is for our community. Yet without the Capital Campaign, the building wouldn’t exist.

The finish line is in sight … Serve Denton is so close to the entire campus being fully self-sufficient.

This entire effort has been sped up because of the unbelievable response from donors in our community. By touring the Serve Denton campus, hundreds of people have had lightbulb moments as they’ve connected the need within the community with the solution Serve Denton provides.

Sometimes you really do have to see it to believe it.
